Stories wanted for the fourth Chemnitz fairytale book

Writing competition enters the next round - closing date: 29 April 2024

For the fourth time, the city of Chemnitz is organising the writing competition "Dein Chemnitz. Your fairy tale". We are once again looking for exciting, funny and profound stories or a fairytale-like story with a direct reference to the city of Chemnitz for children between the ages of five and twelve. The closing date for entries is 29 April 2024.

The writing competition is open to all natural persons who have reached the age of 18 at the time of entry and who live or work in Chemnitz or are a member of a Chemnitz cultural institution (e.g. library or music school). An independent jury, with the involvement of children, will select three winning texts that will be published in the fourth Chemnitz Fairytale Book. Prize money will also be paid out. The winner will receive 500 euros, second place will receive 300 euros and third place will be honoured with 200 euros.

All information on the writing competition, the conditions of participation and the declaration of independence are available here.

Background to the writing competition:

Three fairy tale books have been published by the city of Chemnitz so far. "Benno und der Hüter des Rätsels" (2021), "Der magische Geschichtenturm" (2022) and "Wim und die Teichjungfrau" (2023) were published by Claus-Verlag from Limbach-Oberfrohna. A total of 165 stories were submitted for the past three competitions.
