"Staying in dialogue" - right-wing extremism in Chemnitz

The Citizens' Dialogue series "Keep the conversation going" enters its third round on 27 November 2018. This time, the citizens of Chemnitz are invited to discuss the topic of right-wing extremism in their city at a public dialogue. The event will take place from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm in the auditorium of the Berufliches Schulzentrum für Technik II ("Handwerkerschule"), Schloßstraße 3, 09111 Chemnitz.
The dialogue partners for this topic are Mayor Barbara Ludwig, the Managing Director of the Kulturbüro Sachsen, Grit Hanneforth, the President of the Saxon State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Gordian Meyer-Plath, Jens Eumann, reporter for the Freie Presse Chemnitz, and Maik Mainda, Head of Department at the Saxon State Office of Criminal Investigation. Also present will be Anja Herold-Beckmann, Deputy Managing Director of the State Prevention Council, and Ines Vorsatz, Coordinator of the Local Action Plan against Right-Wing Extremism.
The discussion will be moderated by Cornelius Pollmer, journalist and author (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
Organisational notes:
The event is primarily intended for Chemnitz residents. Admission begins at 5 pm, there will be admission controls. Entrance to the school is possible from Schloßstraße. A sufficient number of parking spaces are available in the front area of Hartmannplatz.
Background information:
The "Staying in dialogue" series is part of the seven-point plan presented by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig at the end of September. Two events have taken place in the series so far: In September, a citizens' dialogue on the topic of safety. As a result of this event, for example, the Citizens' Advisory Council on Security was formed, in which citizens discuss the topic with the administration and report on their everyday lives, provide information and discuss issues.
In October, there was a citizens' dialogue on which future issues are important to the people of Chemnitz. Topics included mobility, housing, but also citizen participation and dialogue within urban society. The connection between the Capital of Culture application and urban development was also a major focus of the dialogue. The planned intervention areas - i.e. areas where something should, can and must happen - were presented and discussed with the citizens.
