"Staying in dialogue" - Capital of Culture application as urban development

The series of Citizens' Dialogues enters a new round on 27 October 2018. This time, the city's residents are invited to discuss the planned intervention areas at the official launch of Chemnitz's Capital of Culture bid in the national application phase. The Capital of Culture application as urban development is the theme of the event.
The Lord Mayor and other representatives of the administration want to discuss open spaces and buildings in the city that are being developed as part of the Capital of Culture application together with interested Chemnitz residents: Where is a cultural change needed? What ideas does the administration have? What other ideas do the people of Chemnitz have? What future scenarios are conceivable? Examples include the Schlossteich site and the zoo. But new ideas are also very welcome and can be discussed on site in an otherwise closed factory hall.
The event is being organised under the patronage of the following institutions: Chemnitz Chamber of Crafts, Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Creative Chemnitz, Chemnitz District Craftsmen's Association, City of Chemnitz, Chemnitz City Sports Association, Chemnitz Theatre.
The event will take place on Saturday, 27 October 2018, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (admission from 10.30 a.m.) in the Alte Hartmannhalle, Fabrikstraße 11.

10:30 am: Admission and exhibition
11:00 am: Start of workshop:
- Thinking about the future of Chemnitz
- Developing projects and intervention spaces for the Capital of Culture
14:00: Coffee, cake, talking to each other
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "The Capital of Culture bid is a great opportunity to fuel the city's development with creativity and joie de vivre and to design new scenarios for a diverse and open community. That's why the people of Chemnitz are invited to play an active role in shaping it."
After a brief summary of the results, participants are welcome to continue the debate over coffee and cake or simply chat. There will be a variety of activities for children on site.

- Hilbersdorf Railway Museum (themed area Space & Traces)
- Schloßteich development area: Konkordiapark, Schloßteich, Schloßberg, Küchwald (themed area Space)

- Sportforum/Marathonturm/Tribünengebäude (themed area Tracks)
- Public squares in the city districts (thematic area space)
- The city by the river (thematic area space)
- Industrial halls as places of creativity and development (thematic area work)
