Statement by Lord Mayor Sven Schulze on today's decision by the Conference of Culture Ministers
"We are delighted that the Conference of Culture Ministers has now formally followed the jury's decision and that we will undoubtedly be able to represent Germany as European Capital of Culture 2025. We will be a good host for Europe in 2025 and talk to Europe about how we want to tackle the common, important issues.
Preparations for the year 2025 are already in full swing: with the establishment of the GmbH and the broad involvement of the population as early as the application process, we have an excellent basis with which we now want to develop the programme for the entire year 2025.
Chemnitz and Europe can look forward to an eventful 2025 and a lot of urban development until then and beyond."
