Who is eligible to vote: Every German who is 18 years old on election day, has had their main residence in the Free State of Saxony for at least three months and is not excluded from the right to vote is eligible to vote. The electoral roll for the city of Chemnitz was drawn up on 27 July 2014. All eligible voters whose main residence is in Chemnitz were entered in this register ex officio. If someone does not have a residence in Saxony or in another state of the Federal Republic of Germany, but usually resides in Saxony, they can be included in the voters' register upon application. This application must be submitted to the electoral authority of the City of Chemnitz by 10 August 2014 at the latest.

Dispatch of election notifications: Every person entitled to vote will receive a written election notification in the form of an election notification card in the next few days. The election notifications will be sent out by 10 August 2014 at the latest. The polling card informs every eligible voter in which polling station they can cast their vote on 31 August.

Information on the polling station must be read carefully, as in some cases the polling stations have changed compared to the European and local elections. The map also shows whether the polling station in question is accessible or not.

Anyone who has not received a polling card by 10 August 2014 but believes they are entitled to vote must contact the postal voting office on 0371 488 7483 or consult the electoral roll.

Inspection of the electoral roll: Anyone entitled to vote can inspect the electoral roll between 11 August and 15 August 2014. They can check the data stored about them there. If they wish to inspect the data of other persons, this is only possible if they can provide credible evidence that the electoral roll is incorrect with regard to these persons. The electoral roll can be inspected from 11 to 15 August 2014 at the postal voting office, Town Hall, Markt 1, Monday and Wednesday 8:30 am to 4 pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 am to 6 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 12 noon. Objections to the electoral roll can only be lodged until 15 August 2014.
