Starting signal for the Welcome Centre in the Bürgerhaus Am Wall
Open day tomorrow, Tuesday, from 4 to 6 pm
On Tuesday, 18 June at 4 pm, the City of Chemnitz will open the Welcome Center Chemnitz. This will be the central point of contact and service centre at the City of Chemnitz Citizens' Office for incoming skilled workers, returnees, students and newcomers from Germany and abroad. At a small open day until 6 p.m., interested parties can find out more about the new centre in the Bürgerhaus Am Wall, Düsseldorfer Platz 1, entrance Richard-Möbius-Straße (1st floor).
The aim is to provide new arrivals with a wide range of advice and information to help them get off to a good start in Chemnitz.
Advice is given on the topics of arriving, living, learning, working and relaxing, and support is provided with extensive information, for example on finding a job and accommodation, dealing with the authorities, registering for school, organising leisure activities and much more. Existing offers and contacts in the city of Chemnitz are passed on from a single source.
In addition to the target group of skilled workers, regional companies that want to integrate international skilled workers into their operations are also supported. The Welcome Centre Chemnitz is thus intended to make a decisive contribution to securing skilled workers and support a living culture of welcome in the city and companies in Chemnitz. The specialist centre was largely set up by the Mayor's Department of Economics and Principles, on whose initiative the Welcome Centre was founded.
As a municipal project, the Welcome Centre benefits from its integration into the municipal administration through its proximity to relevant specialist departments, such as the Foreigners and Citizenship Office, the Registration Office and others.
In order to establish itself as a competence centre for the topic of skilled labour immigration, other specialist advice centres focusing on foreign skilled workers have moved into the premises: The Immigration Information Centre advises and supports employers in Chemnitz in the recruitment and employment of foreign skilled workers and employees. The Information and Advice Centre Labour Market Saxony (IBAS) provides advice on the recognition and qualification of foreign qualifications. Two other project centres are responsible for coordinating the professional recognition and qualification support for foreign healthcare professionals.
This measure is co-financed with tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
