Starting signal for the Gründen am Brühl
The start-up centre at Brühl, a joint project of Technologie Centrum Chemnitz GmbH, GGG, Saxeed and the City of Chemnitz, was officially opened today at midday. Mayor Barbara Ludwig, Dr Jenz Otto, Managing Director of TCC as operator, and Simone Kalew, Managing Director of GGG as landlord of the property, welcomed the first users and guests.
The new start-up centre combines the creative environment of co-working with the advantages of a municipal start-up centre: on a total area of more than 300 square metres, a shared office enables communicative exchange between young founders, individual offices, a modern infrastructure and advisory services complete the offer.
Barbara Ludwig on the opening: "Brühl, which is developing into an urban, lively neighbourhood, is the ideal location for the start-up centre. After all, urbanity includes diversity, creativity and also a good deal of entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurship. Brühl, Chemnitz University of Technology with its future central library and the start-up centre will mutually stimulate each other here." The special feature of the start-up centre will therefore be the so-called "co-working space" - communal areas where young founders can exchange creative ideas.
"This is exactly the concept on a small scale that we envision for Brühl on a large scale, and it is currently taking shape," says Lord Mayor Ludwig: "Shared public spaces, the Brühlboulevard for exchange and space for everyone who wants to realise an idea."
"We want to build a launch pad for young founders, especially from the university environment and the creative scene," explains TCC Managing Director Dr Jenz Otto. The offer includes a flat rate for individual founders. This gives them round-the-clock access to the shared office, Wi-Fi access and use of a multifunctional device (copier, scanner, printer) as well as a shared storage room and kitchenette. Fully furnished separate offices can also be booked. Utilisation contracts are available from a rental period of one month. The usage contract includes - on request - free support from experienced start-up consultants from the Chemnitz start-up counselling network in regular consultation hours or in one-to-one meetings.
The first user of the new start-up centre has already been found: Lutz Hofmann with his company Typo Works. He uses laser cutting technology to create typographies, i.e. lettering of any kind.
