On Thursday, 6 March, from 11 a.m., interested parties are invited to the grand opening of the Chemnitz City Library's new mobile library, followed by an open day on the forecourt of the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20. Visitors can explore the Chemnitz City Library's new services there until 6 pm.
FaBi - the Chemnitz City Library's new mobile library, an electrically powered vehicle, will be put into operation after the winter holidays. It will mainly be used in Chemnitz school playgrounds and in neighbourhoods without library facilities and, as a mobile library, is a key factor in giving as many Chemnitz residents as possible access to the city library's wide range of services.
The offer ranges from children's books and console games to the latest novels and non-fiction books. FaBi is not a simple delivery service, but a fully-fledged library with well-stocked shelves, a lending desk, places to sit and browse and competent staff.
From 10 March 2025, four public stops and 20 Chemnitz schools will be served.
