Start of trial operation at the Bernsdorf swimming complex postponed
Construction defects in the pool area must be rectified - opening date remains unchanged
The city of Chemnitz has had to postpone the start of trial operations at the new Bernsdorf swimming complex by three weeks to 26 August. The reason for this is serious defects in the construction work in the pool area, which were discovered during the trial operation.
The company responsible for the defects is currently working on rectifying them as quickly as possible, with the support of another company.
Due to these necessary measures, school swimming and the planned trial operation can only start on 26 August in the 25-metre pool. The schools have been informed accordingly.
The start date of 2 September agreed with the clubs remains unchanged.
The official opening ceremony of the new Bernsdorf swimming complex will take place as announced on 20 September, with regular operations starting the day after.
The opening times will change as follows:
From Monday 26 August, the 25-metre hall will be open for school swimming.
From Monday 2 September, the 25-metre hall will also be open for clubs.
From 21 September, the following regular opening hours will apply (including schools and clubs):

Due to the postponement at the Bernsdorf swimming complex, the "Am Südring" indoor swimming pool will open on Saturday, 31 August, and will then be accessible at the following times:
