Start of training at the city administration of Chemnitz

City Treasurer Berthold Brehm welcomes the new trainees and students at Chemnitz City Council on 1 September 2014

At the start of the new training year, City Treasurer Berthold Brehm will welcome a total of 33 new trainees and students from Chemnitz City Council on Monday, 1 September 2014 at 1 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of Chemnitz City Hall.

Training its own young professionals is becoming increasingly important for the City of Chemnitz: the number of trainees at the city administration will increase significantly over the next five years, partly due to the age-related departure of employees. New training professions, such as office management clerks and professions that have not been trained for a long time, such as road builders, animal keepers and, from 2015, pool attendants, will be included in the training programme. In total, the city received more than 700 applications for the advertised training occupations.

This year, 33 trainees and students will begin their training or studies. These include 14 trainees as administrative assistants, five office management assistants, one road builder and one animal keeper. Ten students are studying for a Bachelor of Laws degree in higher general administration and two students are training to become social pedagogues with a Bachelor of Arts degree. With the new trainees and students, the city administration is currently training 78 young professionals.

Preparations are also underway for the training of three paramedics in their year of recognition for the start of training in October 2014 and six fire officer candidates and two fire chief inspectors for the start of training in January 2015.

Contact the city administration: Anyone interested in vocational training or studying for 2015 can find information at www.chemnitz.de/ausschreibungen. You can also meet those responsible for training and trainees from the city administration in person at the next training fair, which will take place on 13 September 2014 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Sparkasse Chemnitz event centre in Bahnhofstraße.
