Start of construction work on the renovation and remodelling of Eckstrasse

Next Monday, 15 August 2016, work will begin on the renovation and reconstruction of Eckstraße in the Brühl-Nord redevelopment area. The construction work will cover the area between Hauboldstraße and Eckstraße no. 3 (at the existing plant barrier) over a length of around 180 metres.

In the section from Hauboldstraße to Further Straße, the carriageway will be resurfaced with asphalt over a width of 10 metres, including two-metre longitudinal parking lanes on both sides. The pavements will be 3.50 metres wide with granite slabs and granite paving strips on both sides. The area of the property access roads will be surfaced with granite paving. The existing alignment and kerb lines will be largely retained in terms of position and height in this section.

The cul-de-sac between Further Strasse and house no. 3 will be reorganised. The width of the carriageway will be reduced to 5.50 metres. The remaining width will be used to accommodate perpendicular parking spaces on the undeveloped side. The pavement along the development will also be renewed.

The construction work will largely be carried out with half-sided road closures. Full road closures will take place in the cul-de-sac area and during the period when the carriageway surface course is being applied. The project is scheduled for completion on 30 November 2016.

The construction company Vogtländischer Straßen-, Tief- & Rohrleitungsbau GmbH from Rodewisch has been commissioned to carry out the work. The cost of the construction project is around 200,000 euros. These are being provided from urban development funds.
