Start of construction work on the ice sports complex

Final run on Sunday, 1 March, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Work on the construction of a new 400-metre speed skating rink at the Küchwald ice sports complex is scheduled to begin on Monday, 2 March. From March to October 2020, work will be carried out on a training facility suitable for competitions. Since the beginning of this week, preparatory measures have been underway, such as the construction site equipment and the construction of a site road.

The old speed skating rink will be demolished and the new one built by October 2020. The ice oval will have an additional ice rink surface. This can be used as an ice hockey rink in winter and as a roller hockey rink in summer.

There is an urgent need for action in order to ensure the promotion of popular and competitive sports (national support programme) and the promotion of young talent. The track is now to be prepared as a training facility suitable for competitions in accordance with current requirements.

Final skating session on Sunday: All ice skating fans young and old are invited to take one last spin around the old rink on Sunday, 1 March, from 2pm to 6pm. Admission is free. Skates can be hired for a small fee.
