Start of construction work at Schloßstraße daycare centre
At its meeting today, the city council approved the construction of the new Schloßstraße daycare centre. Construction of the daycare centre will begin in November this year and is expected to be ready for occupancy in two years.
The site of the new daycare centre is located in the Brückenpark, a green area between the course of the Chemnitz river and the Schloßteich pond. The new two-storey building will be able to accommodate 150 children in a total of 10 groups. For this purpose, four group rooms for the crèche (under 3 years) with 50 places, including six places for children with disabilities, will be set up on the ground floor and six group rooms for up to 100 kindergarten children (over 3 years) on the upper floor.
The costs amount to around 5.1 million euros, of which 3.75 million euros will be financed by subsidies.
