Start of construction of the transport link between the Wasserschänke (Röhrsdorf) industrial and commercial estate and Leipziger Strasse
As announced in the latest construction site information, the city of Chemnitz has started work this week on an access road to the "Wasserschänke" industrial estate from Leipziger Straße.
The construction work is being carried out in parallel with the ongoing construction work for the new SIEMENS plant and the inner access road to the industrial estate.
In the area between Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Wasserschänkenstraße, a direct connection to Leipziger Straße will be created at the level of the SIEMENS site. In this area, the carriageway will be widened to provide a left-turn lane towards the city centre. The widening work on Leipziger Strasse extends over a total length of around 300 metres.
The construction work will be carried out with half-sided lane closures and traffic lights.
The timing of the development measures is coordinated with the construction of the new SIEMENS plant and the traffic and media technology development of the industrial estate. The construction work for the access road should be completed by 30 June 2014.
The construction costs of the project amount to around 310,000 euros.
HSE Bau GmbH (08371 Glauchau) has been commissioned with the construction work.
