Start of construction of the Rabenstein-Riedbachtal green corridor
New park in the new residential area "An der Riedstraße"
Construction work on the future Rabenstein-Riedbachtal green corridor will begin in early January 2017. The site is located in the new residential area "An der Riedstraße" opposite the Chemnitz-Rabenstein DRK hospital. The total area of the park in the first construction phase is approx. 19,500 m². This construction phase includes the bank areas running from north-west to south-east along the Riedbach.
In the centre of the park, the play and leisure area consisting of two sections, one with a large climbing combination, the other with a nest swing, is already being built. The plan is to open the play area to the public on Children's Day 2017.
In addition to the trees already on the bank, a further 70 trees (birch, rowan, rowan ash and small-leaved lime) will be planted. In the subsequent construction phases, the green areas will be planted from north-east to south-west according to the availability of space and the progress of construction in the construction areas.
Techno-Farm & Service GmbH, Neukirchen-Adorf, has been commissioned with the construction work and will begin on 9 January 2017, subject to weather conditions. The costs for the redesign of this area are estimated to total around 225,000 euros for planning and construction work. Funding will be provided by the property developer of the residential area.
