Start of construction of the new access road to the initial reception centre for asylum seekers in Chemnitz-Ebersdorf via Glösaer Straße

With the handover of the construction site by the City of Chemnitz to the construction company Max Bögl Stiftung & Co KG (Elterlein site), the go-ahead was given this week for the construction project "New construction of the access road to the EAE asylum seekers centre via Glösaer Straße".

Until 23 October, preparatory construction work will be carried out (e.g. setting up the construction site, applying for a shaft certificate, preparing for tree felling, briefing by the pipeline operator). From 23 October, the actual construction work will begin with the establishment of a half-sided closure of Glösaer Straße (length approx. 200 m) under traffic light control; the planned end of construction is the beginning of December 2018.

A total of 890 metres of new road will be built and approx. 200 metres of existing Glösaer Straße will be rebuilt. The new section will have a carriageway width of 6.75 m and a 2.50 m wide footpath on one side. In addition, 2 m wide drainage troughs will be installed on both sides. On the side of the pavement, street lighting will be installed in a separate contract by the utility company eins energie. Preparatory civil engineering measures for this are integrated into the construction work.

The access road crosses the two allotment sites "Am schnellen Markt" and "Sonnenseite". Replacement parking spaces will be created as part of the construction project to make up for the lost parking spaces. Furthermore, the felling of 48 trees and the clearing of approx. 300 metres of hedges and shrubs are necessary. The necessary replacement and compensation will take place, among other things, through planting during construction in a separate measure. The areas possible and necessary for this are already included in the road cross-sections.

The expansion of Glösaer Straße as part of the connection to the new railway line will take place over a period of around three months from May 2018, with Glösaer Straße being fully closed. This is absolutely necessary due to the narrow existing carriageway widths and in compliance with safety regulations.

The contracted construction volume amounts to around 1,996,000 euros. Financing is being provided by the Free State of Saxony, represented by the Sächsische Immobilienmanagement SIB. A financing agreement was concluded between the City of Chemnitz and the SIB.
