Start of construction for fairground in Euba

Second public square for the European Capital of Culture 2025

Construction work on the new fairground in Euba began today, Monday 5 September. This will cover an area of 3,000 square metres, measuring 50 by 60 metres, and is located in the "Am Lehngut" development plan area.

After the surrounding agricultural land was harvested, construction could begin. Completion is planned for the end of 2022.

After the market fountain, the fairground in Euba is the second of 17 public squares to be realised as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. The public squares are part of the intervention areas of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, with eight being initiated by citizens' platforms and a further eight by the local authorities.

The fairground will be surfaced with sand-slurry gravel and drained via appropriate channels. Between the street "Am Lehngut" and the fairground, an approx. ten metre wide green strip will be created on which trees will be planted. The fairground will then be accessible via two driveways.

The square was planned by the traffic and civil engineering department. The construction work will be carried out by the municipal civil engineering department. Only specialised services such as ground improvement and the development of drinking water, electricity and waste water were outsourced.
