Start of construction for civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and traffic engineering measures in 2018
At its meeting today, the city council approved the start of the following construction measures for 2018.
Construction of a new bridge over the Würschnitz at Harthau railway station, including expansion of the B95/Alte Harth junction
The measure comprises the new construction of the bridge over the Würschnitz including road connections, the conversion of the Annaberger Straße/Alte Harth junction and the dismantling of the old bridges.
The new bridge with driving and pedestrian areas makes a second bridge unnecessary. The footpath width is 2.50 metres and 2.25 metres respectively; the carriageway width is six metres. A footpath connection to Annaberger Straße will also be created. As part of the construction of the new bridge, the visibility conditions at the Annaberger Straße/Alte Harth junction will be made compliant with the regulations, so that oncoming traffic will not be able to pass unhindered as before. The length of the Annaberger Straße/Alte Harth junction will be adapted to the changed route of Annaberger Straße. The existing carriageway width of Alte Harth will be reduced to six metres and the junction area will be redesigned. A crossing point with traffic lights will be installed to ensure school crossing safety. The existing crossing will be dismantled.
The two existing bridges will not be dismantled until the new ones have been completed. This means that the connections between Annaberger Straße and Am Harthauer Bahnhof will be maintained at all times.
The costs amount to around 1.45 million euros; the measure has been registered for funding. Construction will last from the beginning of April 2018 to the end of October 2019.
Renewal of the Südring carriageway between Markersdorfer Strasse and Helbersdorfer Strasse, in the direction of Stollberger Strasse
The construction section is characterised by severe cracks, rutting and road subsidence. The carriageway is therefore to be renewed. There is also a replacement bus stop in the form of a bus bay in the area of the construction work. This bus stop serves as a replacement stop for the tram line 5 and will be barrier-free.
The main part of the project is the renewal of the carriageway. This will also be registered as a research project to investigate the use of noise-optimised asphalt surface courses.
The total costs amount to 350,000 euros, including 156,000 euros in subsidies. The renovation is scheduled to take place during the 2018 summer holidays. Work will begin on 25 June and end on 3 August.
