Start of complex civil engineering measures

Full closure in Stelzendorfer Straße in the section from Zwickauer Straße to Nauwerckstraße from 7 September 2015

On 7 September 2015, extensive civil engineering work will begin on the section of Stelzendorfer Straße between Zwickauer Straße and Nauwerckstraße.

These include the new pipework for the Stelzendorfer Bach stream, the renewal of the combined sewerage system including a new rainwater overflow structure, the laying of new gas and drinking water pipes and the subsequent road construction.

The new stream pipework is being built due to its poor condition and insufficient load-bearing capacity. The new culvert will be constructed using prefabricated U-shaped elements and attached cover elements.

Prefabricated elements with clear dimensions of 1.80 x 1.80 metres will be used. The length of the new pipework is around 114 metres. Four maintenance access points will be provided to facilitate maintenance and inspection.

The work will begin with a sewer replacement in Carl-Hertel-Straße. From here, the combined sewer will then be replaced up to Nauwerckstraße.

During this process, the rainwater overflow structure above the railway bridge in the road area will be rebuilt. The drinking water and gas pipes will be reorganised and renewed. This will be followed by the new construction of the stream pipework and road construction. The entire construction project is expected to last until November 2016.

The affected section of Stelzendorfer Straße will be completely closed for the work. A diversion will be set up via Neefestraße, Jaenickestraße and Zwickauer Straße.

The construction costs of the project amount to around 1.4 million euros.

The company Krause & Co GmbH (Adorf) was commissioned with the construction work.

The road construction and the renewal of the stream pipework are being subsidised by the Free State of Saxony to the tune of 75% as part of the municipal road and bridge construction programme.
