Bathers who are regular visitors to the 50-metre hall at Chemnitz City Pool have already prepared themselves for this: After the Christmas holidays and the turn of the year, the 50-metre hall of the city pool will be closed to bathers from Monday, 6 January 2014. This will make way for the construction workers and the scheduled start of the next renovation phase at the busy facility on Mühlenstraße. In this next scheduled construction phase, the ventilation system in the 50-metre hall will be completely renewed, including fire safety precautions(PM 745 from 18 November 2013). The city is investing a total of 2.4 million euros in the municipal swimming pool in 2013/2014. Around 1.4 million euros of this will go towards the ventilation system in the 50 metre hall. The ventilation system in the 25-metre hall and the sauna ventilation system were already renovated in 2013 at a cost of around 1 million euros.
The 50-metre hall will probably have to remain closed to bathers until the end of September 2014 so that the extensive construction work can be completed.
During the period of closure, bathers are asked to understand that the 25-metre hall in the municipal pool will only be available to swimmers for a limited period of time, as it is used simultaneously and as a priority for school and club swimming.
From 6 January 2014, the 25-metre hall in the municipal pool will be open to the public as follows:
Monday | 06.00 - 09.30 a.m. | |
