An important pedestrian link in the southern area of the city park has been reopened. The staircase, which was closed in August and forms the connection from the former Flussbad swimming pool via the allotment gardens "Am Eisenweg" and "Am Hochfeld" to the Markersdorf district, is now fully usable again after being professionally repaired.

The steps serve as a central ascent for walkers and joggers to get from the alluvial forest via the city park slope to the Höhenweg. The short-term closure had become necessary due to dilapidation in order to ensure the safety of passers-by.

The stairs are being restored by the city's own staff from the Parks Department. In the process, the concrete steps were aligned to restore surefootedness, the railings were repaired including a new, protective coat of paint, the terrain around the steps was slightly profiled to improve drainage of rainwater and the base and surface layers of the path and steps were rebuilt with a stable sand-slurry gravel surface.
