Staging, retouching, manipulation - Do pictures tell the truth?

The adult education centre is hosting an online course on Thursday, 28 January from 6.45 to 8.15 p.m. to explain the techniques and consequences of image manipulation in social media and reporting. Participation is free of charge. The link to the course is available at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
The course explores these questions: How is an image statement influenced through staging, e.g. by means of image cropping or a different perspective? How are images enhanced or retouched using image editing programmes? How are image statements completely changed through manipulation, e.g. to spread other political or social messages?
Images in the media and social media are not always a true representation of reality. This evening will use numerous examples to show how images can be altered through staging, retouching and manipulation.
This event is a cooperation between SAEK Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre as part of the "medienkundig" course series.
