Stadtbad celebrates its 85th (+1) birthday
Family celebration to mark the anniversary on 10 October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the first Chemnitz indoor short triathlon
The anniversary of the city pool will be celebrated with a family festival on Sunday, 10 October. The occasion is the 85th birthday, which had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic. All residents of Chemnitz are cordially invited to attend.
One of the city's best-known and most striking buildings is celebrating its 86th birthday. And you can hardly tell. The pioneering architecture, the perfect interplay of form and function still makes the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool appear timelessly modern and contemporary today. It has not succumbed to fast-moving fashion, but has retained its unobtrusive charm over the decades. Reason enough for the city to celebrate this anniversary in style. The big birthday party will include a programme for the whole family - for old and young, for sports enthusiasts and the curious, for water rats and dry swimmers.
The joy of sporting activity will be experienced in a variety of ways. At the first Chemnitz indoor short triathlon, radio presenter André Hardt will take on four challengers in the disciplines of swimming, cycling and aqua jogging. Former world-class swimmer Heike Apitzsch-Friedrich will be among those taking part. In addition, numerous athletes such as synchronised swimmers and trial rider Hannes Herrmann will be demonstrating their skills. Technology enthusiasts can sign up for guided tours of the building.
Information for visitors: The 3G regulation and the obligation to wear a face mask apply. A test centre is set up on site.
