Stadium report: Main stand to be roofed over in January - expansion on schedule

Work is currently still underway on the west stand in the stadium. The trapezoidal sheet metal roofing will be installed at the beginning of the new year. Installation of the camera balconies will begin this week. Locksmith work is currently underway in the grandstand area. Most of the lighting and sound system has been installed. The façade work on the main building is underway. The "fan scarf" has already been installed in some areas. The dry construction and screed work is currently being carried out on the interior. The ventilation and heating system is also being installed. Outside, the sewage system is being installed in the Zietenstrasse car park and the stadium access roads are being constructed in the north-west area.
Due to the mild weather, the implementation of the additional services can begin in accordance with the city council resolution of July 2015. The outdoor event areas were fully commissioned in accordance with the resolution. The two mobile partition walls and the technical adaptations (e.g. presentation technology) for the additional measure "Improving the quality of event areas in the main building" have been fully commissioned. The implementation will be completed with the construction of the corresponding technical building systems or at the time of the interior fit-out.
The higher quality of the outdoor facilities was commissioned, as was the increase in the quality of the safety precautions and the implementation of the new media guidelines. Only the originally planned lighting scenography will only be pre-equipped and not fully realised.
The implementation of the additional services can already be seen in part, the car park on Zietenstrasse will receive larger sewers in line with the higher degree of sealing and the installation of the modified camera balconies on the West Stand will begin this week.
Of the approximately €26.9 million in construction costs, around €20.34 million has already been paid out for services. In the total cost overview, 26.8 million euros have been contractually committed to date.
General contractor BAM Sports has so far commissioned 52 subcontractors with partial services. The majority of the contracts have been awarded to companies in the region: 33 companies come from the Chemnitz area and Saxony.
A grand opening event is planned for all Chemnitz residents during the break in play on the weekend of 17/18 June 2016. Preparations are already underway.
Keyword stadium: The remodelling of the stadium on Gellertstraße will take place during ongoing match operations. A modern arena with 15,000 seats is being created, of which approx. 9,000 seats and 6,000 standing places, including a family block and barrier-free seats. The client is the city of Chemnitz.
