Stadium conversion: City submits application for authorisation to the state directorate
Chemnitz City Council today applied to the Saxony State Directorate for the necessary legal supervisory authorisations for the stadium renovation.
Following its decision in principle last autumn, the city council adopted the contractual basis for the project at its meeting on 18 July, which must be approved by the legal supervisory authority. With this week's approval of the Chemnitz city budget and the documents and records already submitted to the State Directorate in advance, the city has now completed all the necessary preparatory work.
"We have done all our homework and are therefore assuming that the State Directorate will issue the authorisations as quickly as possible," said Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig.
It is planned that GGG will be able to start the stadium conversion in the fourth quarter, depending on the approval.
The stadium on Gellertstraße is to be remodelled at a cost of 25 million euros, as it does not meet the requirements of the DFB and DFL for higher-class football. A functional stadium with 15,000 seats is planned.
