Stadium construction: Administrative and Finance Committee approves scheduled borrowing of municipal loans
Construction progress has so far been financed from the first loan and cash on hand - Information on the status of construction work
Yesterday evening, the Administration and Finance Committee decided to take out municipal loans totalling 15 million euros.
The City of Chemnitz has a total of 25 million euros from 2012 at its disposal via a loan authorisation. The City of Chemnitz applied for and was approved by the State Directorate of Saxony for borrowing for the remodelling of the stadium on Gellertstraße.
The borrowing for the first instalment of € 10 million was already realised by the City of Chemnitz in the first half of 2015.
By 9 October 2015, total investment disbursements of 18.8 million euros had been made. In addition, there are outstanding orders totalling 5.9 million euros. For the time being, financing was provided from the City of Chemnitz's cash on hand and through the first borrowing of 10 million euros.
Status of the construction work
Remaining work is currently being carried out in the east, north and south stands, for example loudspeaker and alarm systems, fire protection systems, data connections, etc. The promenade areas of the North, South and East Stands as well as the North Stand guest fan area and the outdoor facilities are almost complete. The lighting and planting are still missing. The shell of the west stand (grandstand area without the main building) is also largely complete. The steel construction and locksmith work is currently still being carried out, i.e. the roof structure is being erected for the south-west section. The roof covering will be installed subsequently. The north-western section will then be constructed in the same way.
The shell of the main building is also essentially complete. The building services are currently being installed (e.g. district heating connection, drinking water, waste water, heating). At the same time, the construction of the main car park on Zietenstrasse is continuing, in particular the removal of excavated earth and the installation of drainage facilities.
