Stable waste fees for 2025 and 2026
Focus on sustainability and efficiency
At its meeting yesterday, the City Council approved the amended waste statutes and the amendment to the waste fee statutes of the City of Chemnitz from 1 January 2025.
The bylaws will apply for the years 2025 and 2026 and the waste fees will remain stable for the next two years.
"We are proud to be able to offer our citizens stable waste fees for the next two years," explained Marcus Kropp, Operations Manager of the city's waste disposal and municipal cleaning company.
The fee is made up of three components:
- the basic household fee
- the standard disposal fee and
- the bulk fee
The basic fee per household is 39.60 euros per year. This corresponds to a monthly basic fee per household of 3.30 euros.
The regular emptying fee for residual and organic waste also remains stable. The fee is determined by the number of waste containers installed per property, the type of waste container (authorised waste container sizes) and the emptying frequency ordered. This also includes the free disposal of bulky waste once a year.
The period valid for the calculation of waste fees ends on 31 December 2024.
A new calculation must therefore be prepared for the following year. As a result, this will lead to stable fees overall and a slight adjustment to the fee rates for HTMV waste and full service. The individual fees for the use of the full service were recalculated and rounded down to full cent amounts.
The consistent approach to increased proportions of contaminants in the organic waste and paper, cardboard and cardboard packaging fractions will be continued.
The legal requirements for high-quality recycling of biowaste must be implemented (maximum foreign matter content of 0.5 per cent as a prerequisite for the treatment of biowaste). Organic waste bins containing non-compostable foreign matter (in particular plastic bags, glass, metals, residual waste) will not be emptied until the person obliged to connect has carried out re-sorting or commissioned the (chargeable) disposal of the contents of the organic waste bins as residual waste.
The requirements for high-quality collection of paper, cardboard and cardboard packaging must also be implemented as a prerequisite for recycling. The procedure here is analogous to that for contaminants in organic waste.
The professional and consistent separation and sorting of waste helps the environment and saves on charges.
