St Nicholas abseils from the roof of the hospital
Invitation to the press event: on 6 December, 1.45 pm, meeting point: main entrance, DRK Hospital, Unritzstraße 23
On Friday, 6 December, the little patients of the Chemnitz-Rabenstein DRK hospital will receive a surprise from the Chemnitz fire brigade. The high-altitude rescue team will abseil down from the roof of the hospital and deliver a small surprise to the children undergoing treatment there.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend. The meeting point is 1.45 pm at the hospital's main information desk. Patrick Seidel, the hospital's press officer, will pick you up. A representative of the Chemnitz fire brigade will also be available to answer questions.
The plan is for a disguised member of the Chemnitz fire brigade's height rescue team to abseil from the roof of the hospital and a colleague, also disguised, from a turntable ladder. They will land in the playroom and greet the children in front of the windows of the patients' rooms. St Nicholas will then come directly to the ward and bring a small gift for the children's wards and something to snack on for the young patients. Of course, he is accompanied by his helpers.
For the fourth time, more than 60 rescue units will be climbing from the roofs of children's hospitals in many cities and municipalities across Germany. The emergency services dress up as Father Christmas and superheroes and abseil from the roofs of hospital buildings to make the children forget everyday hospital life for a moment. This is the third time the Chemnitz fire brigade has taken part.
