Spring planting in the city green 2016

Last autumn, the employees of the Chemnitz Parks Department planted 10,850 flower bulbs in the city area, which will contribute to a colourful cityscape in spring.

The total number of bulbs is made up of the following species: 7,250 tulips and 3,600 crocuses.

In addition to the bulbs planted in autumn, 9,750 will be planted in spring. This year, that's 8,450 pansies and 1,300 centaury, which cost around 2,700 euros in total. They were supplied by the specialised company: W. Willkomm GbR, Berthold-Haupt-Str. 15, 01257 Dresden.

Together with 7,250 tulips, the above-mentioned pansies and centaury will bloom in the park by the Red Tower and 3,600 crocuses will beautify the castle square.

The plants can be found in the flower beds in the city centre on a total of 875 square metres of public greenery.

Depending on the weather, the planting of the beds will begin in the next few days.
