Spring planting begins at the end of March
Splashes of colour planned over a total area of 488 square metres
Spring planting in the city centre is expected to begin at the end of March, depending on the weather. The first heralds of spring will provide a splash of colour in the public green spaces and flowerbeds over a total area of 488 square metres.
Last autumn, the gardeners from the Parks Department planted a total of 8,000 flower bulbs: 6,300 crocuses, 500 daffodils, 600 mini daffodils and 600 wild tulips.
In addition, this year 13,600 pansies, 600 centaury and 1,000 primroses will provide a "sea of colour".
In Park am Roten Turm, for example, numerous pansies in bright orange, blue, yellow and white will soon be in bloom. In spring, 1,000 dark blue primroses and 600 white centaury will enchant the Schloßplatz with their flowers.
The cost of these plants is just under 5,400 euros. The nursery Falk Horn from Geringswalde was commissioned to supply the spring bloomers.
