Spring planting begins
Photo opportunity: on 4 April, 10.30 a.m. in the park by the Red Tower
The spring planting in the city centre begins on Tuesday, 4 April. The first heralds of spring will be planted in the beds over a total area of 488 square metres, adding a splash of colour to the public green spaces.
Media representatives are invited to a photo opportunity in the park by the Red Tower at 10.30 am . A representative of the Parks Department will be available to talk to.
Numerous pansies will be planted in the Park am Roten Turm, blooming in bright orange, blue, yellow and white.
Throughout the city, 13,600 pansies, 600 centaury and 1,000 primroses will be planted this year. In addition, there are 6,300 crocuses, 500 daffodils, 600 mini daffodils and 600 wild tulips, which were planted as bulbs last autumn by the gardeners from the Parks Department.
The cost of these plants totalled just under 5,400 euros. The garden centre Falk Horn from Geringswalde was commissioned to supply the spring bloomers.
