Spring on Andréplatz - start of pilot project

Bürgerplattform Chemnitz Mitte-West and Grünflächenamt invite you to join in on Saturday, 12 April, from 9 a.m., to participate Citizens' forum on Wednesday, 16 April, 5 p.m., in the Leipziger Straße community centre

Start of the gardening season in the Kaßberg district: on Saturday, 12 April from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, the listed green town square Andréplatz on Barbarossastraße / Henriettenstraße, which is popular with residents and walkers, is to be brought into shape together. Citizens are cordially invited to take part in the campaign in "Andrépark" - as the green oasis here in the neighbourhood is called.

"In our beautiful parks and gardens, there is a lot of maintenance work to be done in spring, and the public can help us with this," says Kerstin König, Head of the Parks and Gardens Department. "We are convinced that the pilot project will set a precedent and that citizens will learn to appreciate our parks and our work better."

Neighbourhood manager Annett Illert from the Leipziger Straße community centre: "For our big spring campaign in Andrépark, the Chemnitz Mitte-West Citizens' Platform has found a competent and expert partner in the Parks Department - we are very pleased about the cooperation. Now, after careful planning and preparation, in which we have already involved residents of the park area, we are getting started: it is the first joint campaign between the two partners. We are calling it a pilot project because we hope that the joint campaign will also set a precedent in other districts of Chemnitz!"

Andréplatz is to be maintained on Saturday morning. The plan is to renew the fall protection around the climbing castle and replace the coarse gravel, remove weeds from the paths and maintain the path surface on the playground, as well as carry out necessary minor repairs to the benches. According to the citizens' platform, the tools will be provided on site by the Parks Department on Saturday morning. Staff from the office will also be on hand to provide citizens with expert advice.

Citizens' forum in the community centre

On Wednesday, 16 April , the members of the steering group of the Chemnitz Mitte-West citizens' platform invite you to the 4th citizens' forum from 5 to 7 pm. The topic of the event at the Leipziger Straße 39 community centre will be a review of the joint commitment of

residents, members of associations and tradespeople from the Schloßchemnitz, Kaßberg and Altendorf districts and the presentation of jointly realised projects in the Chemnitz Mitte-West area - including, for example, the existing playgrounds in the area of the citizens' platform, which were discussed and voted on in the citizens' participation process.

According to neighbourhood manager Annett Illert, the topics on the current and future agenda of the citizens' platform for the Chemnitz Mitte-West area will also be discussed.
