Spring festival with seed and plant exchange fair

Museum of Natural History: on 23 March, 1 to 5 pm, TIETZ

On Saturday, 23 March, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to the spring festival with a seed and plant exchange at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz in the TIETZ.

Guests young and old can let off steam creatively with spring and Easter crafts: Sorbian Easter eggs, Easter nests and seed cards will be created. Young detectives will get their money's worth on the "Egg or no egg?" treasure hunt through the permanent exhibition. The brave can get up close and personal with insects. The waste disposal and city cleaning company of the city of Chemnitz also invites visitors to experiment. Waste utilisation takes centre stage at the "Compost" station. Agrargenossenschaft Lößnitz-Stollberg e.G. offers honey and interesting facts about bees. The Chemnitz City Library with its mobile book lending centre inspires visitors to create their own gardening projects.

Home, small and flower pot gardeners are invited to bring seeds and plants to exchange and thus preserve natural green diversity. Anyone wishing to offer larger quantities can register for a swap table by calling 0371 488 4555 or sending an email to: ehle(at)naturkunde-chemnitz.de.

The lecture "The insect-friendly garden" starts at 3 pm. Beekeeper Yves Krone will talk about the importance of wildflower meadows, the difference between wild bees and honey bees and how to promote soil life in the vegetable garden.
