Spring bloomers are planted

Invitation to the photo session: 19 March, 10 a.m., Park Am Roten Turm/Stadthallenpark

On Wednesday, 19 March at 10 a.m., representatives of the media are invited to a photo session in the park Am Roten Turm/Stadthallenpark. The gardeners from the City of Chemnitz Parks Department will be planting the plants in the beds.

Master gardener Ilka Voigt, who planned the planting, will be happy to talk to you.

The flowerbeds in the city centre will once again be planted with spring-flowering plants which, together with the bulbs planted last autumn, will add a colourful touch to the cityscape.

In the flower beds in the city centre, 12,540 pansies and 1,500 primroses will be planted on a total of 488 square metres of public greenery.

In the park by the Red Tower, 2,490 bright orange pansies, 3,180 dark blue pansies, 1,020 red pansies, 1,440 pink pansies, 1,650 yellow pansies and 2,760 light yellow pansies will bloom.

500 primroses each in yellow, orange and red will provide a splash of colour on the castle square in spring 2025.

The costs for the spring bloomers totalled around 5,600 euros. The Green Space Office has commissioned the Falk Horn nursery from Geringswalde in the region to grow and supply these spring bloomers.

Last autumn, the gardeners from the Chemnitz Parks Department planted flower bulbs in various parks and green spaces, as they do every year. They planted 2,000 blue starflowers, 1,900 crocuses, 600 wild tulips, 600 mini daffodils, 500 ray anemones, 500 milk stars and 300 snowdrops.
