Sports facilities with open spaces can be used again
Subject to the new decision on the Corona Protection Ordinance of the Free State of Bavaria, sports facilities with open spaces, such as grass pitches, tennis courts, running tracks, etc., can reopen from Monday, 4 May.
Culture and Sport Mayor Ralph Burghart: "We are delighted that the city's sports facilities can be made available to clubs again. This means that club life can be carefully revitalised and a small step back to normality can be taken. Sporting activities in clubs - at a distance, of course - are not only healthy, but are also very important for social cohesion."
The German Olympic Sports Confederation has developed and published ten guidelines and sport-specific transitional rules with the top associations. The "Verein(t) gegen die Krise" guidelines adopted by the city council yesterday also provide security for clubs.
The City of Chemnitz and the City Sports Association are already coordinating the implementation of these transitional rules with club representatives. The focus is on doing sport responsibly as a team, but without contact. The hygiene and social distancing rules remain essential. Changing rooms and showers will therefore remain closed. Sanitary areas should be cleaned thoroughly.
Even if the current infection figures show a slight easing of the situation, athletes and club members are nevertheless asked to exercise caution and observe the rules more than ever.
All information will be provided to the clubs by the Stadtsportbund and will also be published on the Stadtsportbund homepage at www.sportbund-chemnitz.de.
