Sponsors wanted for the Central-East and South-East Citizens' Platforms from 1 January 2022
Sponsors are being sought for the citizens' platforms in the Central-East urban area with the districts of Gablenz and Yorckgebiet and the South-East urban area with the districts of Harthau, Erfenschlag, Reichenhain and Adelsberg as of 1 January 2022.
Citizens' platforms and active steering groups with representatives from the various neighbourhoods already exist in these urban areas. Clubs, initiatives, associations or recognised independent youth and social welfare organisations that are regionally based in the respective urban area and want to continue and further develop the work with the existing steering groups are eligible to become sponsors of the citizens' platforms. The sponsors should support the citizens' platforms in ensuring that stakeholders from more than half of the neighbourhoods in the area who are committed to the free and democratic basic order participate in the work of the citizens' platform. The operation of several citizens' platforms by one organisation is excluded.
In Chemnitz, citizens' platforms operate in all areas of the city as voluntary associations of committed citizens, organisations and other stakeholders. A citizens' platform consists of a voluntary steering group with representatives from the city districts and a sponsor for the organisation and administration of the citizens' platform.
The City of Chemnitz provides the citizens' platforms with a citizens' budget that is used in their own area. The aim is to strengthen and improve the quality of life and participation in the city's neighbourhoods. The City of Chemnitz provides the organiser with a budget for material and personnel costs for the operation of the citizens' platform. The organiser is responsible for the proper use of the citizens' budget in cooperation with the steering group and for accounting and documentation.

Written expressions of interest in operating a citizens' platform as a sponsor can be submitted by 15 September 2021 to

Applicants must provide proof of their legal form, a description of why they could be a suitable organisation and an initial rough concept for the citizens' platform.
Recognition of the sponsorship of the citizens' platform is decided by the City Council in accordance with Section 31 of the main statutes. The aim is to pass a resolution in autumn 2021.
