Sponsors wanted for information pillars
What about knowledge about Chemnitz? How heavy is the Karl Marx head, for example? Who designed the striking outer shell of the city hall? Or who was the first to colonise the Schloßberg? There is so much to explore in the city, but so far you can hardly find any information along the way. This is set to change - together with the people of Chemnitz.
The city wants to set up information pillars at various locations. The large boards contain facts and background information about the locations as well as historical images. Smaller signs on house walls will also provide important information. There are already six steles at the former city gates in the city centre, including at Falkeplatz and the Red Tower. In the future, such steles will also describe the Karl-Marx-Kopf, the Rosenhof, the Schloßbergmuseum, the Stadthalle, the theatre square and the TIETZ.
The city is now looking for sponsors for the individual steles and signs. Even a small amount can help to finance the steles, which cost around 2,500 euros, and thus make Chemnitz more informative. With a donation of 250 euros or more, the name of the donor can be named on a stele and is thus forever associated with the city.

The information steles project is being planned and implemented by the Mayor's Office together with the Chemnitz History Society, the Association of Tour Guides, the City Archive and the Monument Protection Department.
