Speed limit on Augustusburger Straße

Only 30 km/h permitted between the youth hostel and Niederhermersdofer Weg

 

On Augustusburger Straße between the youth hostel and Niederhermersdofer Weg, the traffic authorities have imposed a speed limit of 30 km/h.

This traffic law measure is justified by:

  • Lack of space at the regional transport stop in the direction of Walter-Klippel-Straße
  • Restricted visibility in the southern access road Walter-Klippel-Straße onto Augustusburger Straße landwards
  • No adequate protection for pedestrians on Augustusburger Straße between the Augustusberger Straße/Walter-Klippel-Straße stop and the youth hostel (no pavements, no accessible verge - ditches on both sides), predominant use of the road section by groups of children travelling to the youth hostel and the high ropes course)

According to § 45 StVO, the road traffic authorities can restrict the use of certain roads or stretches of road for reasons of traffic safety. This is the case for moving traffic (apart from 30 km/h zones) if there is a danger due to the particular local conditions.
