Speed display at the entrance to Mittelbach

Installation for reasons of traffic safety

In the course of this week, a speed display will be installed on Hofer Straße at the entrance to Mittelbach coming from Chemnitz for road safety reasons and put into operation after a final test.

This so-called dialogue display for use in road traffic was made available to the Saxon Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport (SMWA) as part of the "Slow down" road safety campaign by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) and the German Road Safety Council (DVR). The SMWA selected the deployment site after analysing speed measurements.

The Ministry is making the display available to the city of Chemnitz for three years at the location for the purposes of road safety work. At the same time, the DVR has stored a selection of messages and motifs in the device's software that can be shown on the display.

The use of the dialogue display is being scientifically monitored by LISt GmbH on behalf of the SMWA. The extent to which the use of the dialogue displays affects driving speeds and the number of accidents at the scene is being investigated.
