Special playing time of the carillon
Concert pieces will be played on Saturday, 19 November, 10 a.m.
On Saturday 19 November at 10 a.m., special sounds can be heard from the tower of the New Chemnitz Town Hall. Stefan Duschl from Munich will be playing concert pieces on the carillon as part of the project "Connecting the towers of Europe with sound".
The programme includes Ave Maria (Johann Sebastian Bach/Charles Gounod), Oberwiesenfelder Glockenschottisch (Georg Köppl), Prelude to Te Deum (Marc-A. Charpentier) and Valse de Coppelia (Leo Delibes).
Sebastian Liebold will then play Wu de Waalder haamlich rauschen (Anton Günther) and Totengeläut as Chemnitz's answer and to mark the Sunday of the Dead.
This series is to be continued next year with a view to the European Capital of Culture 2025.
The carillon players usually ring the Chemnitz tower carillon on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 10.30 am and Fridays from 4.30 pm to 5 pm. Exceptions in November are 25 November, when the carillon sounds from 3.20 pm to 3.50 pm for the opening of the Christmas market, and on 26 and 30 November, when it starts five minutes later, at 10.05 am.
