Speaking for democracy - methods for everyday life
Adult education centre: Communication training on 7 October, from 4 to 8 p.m., and on 8 October, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., TIETZ, course room 4.07
On Friday 7 October from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 8 October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Adult Education Centre and the Chemnitz Community Foundation are inviting you to a communication training course at the TIETZ, course room 4.07. Participants will learn simple methods for responding to and countering anti-democratic statements and right-wing slogans.
The programme is aimed at volunteers in clubs and associations and anyone else who is interested. It is open to people who are themselves affected by hostility. But also for those who are not affected, but do not want to stand by and do nothing.
Admission is free of charge. Please register at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488 4343.
The first aim is to understand the mechanisms of prejudice and discrimination and also to look at one's own attitude in order to then practise ways and means of dealing with inhuman statements and attitudes - for use in the professional environment and in everyday personal life.
Discrimination is part of everyday life. People of a different skin colour, sexual orientation or religion are constantly exposed to hostility, exclusion and condescending comments. People who are politically active and campaign for democracy are also verbally attacked. Speaking out in favour of democracy and against discrimination makes an important contribution to strengthening the fundamental democratic values of our society.
This event is a co-operation between the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. It is supported by the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP).
