Sparkassenstiftung hands over funding commitment for the reconstruction of the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House

Invitation to the press event on 26 August, 12 noon

On Monday, 26 August at 12 noon, the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung and Sparkasse Chemnitz will hand over a funding commitment for the reconstruction of the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House in Chemnitz.

Media representatives are invited to the handover at Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Haus, Limbacher Straße 382 in Chemnitz-Rottluff.

Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Ludger Weskamp, Chairman of the Board of the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung, Dr Michael Kreuzkamp, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Chemnitz, and Sonja Oehlschläger, Chairwoman of the Board of the Foundation in Honour of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, will be available to answer questions.

Rocco Brüsch, Managing Director of KommunalBau Chemnitz GmbH, and Dr Florence Thurmes, General Director of the Chemnitz Art Collections, will be on hand to answer questions about the building and its future use.

With the funding approval, the restoration work can continue in order to fully restore the authentic place where the artist lived as a museum. The Karl Schmidt-Rottluff House and the neighbouring mill will play a central role as an intervention area during the Capital of Culture year.
