Sound paths to Chemnitz - Music in the Altendorfer Straße asylum centre

The two musicians Mathis Stendike and Jan Heinke are starting a new music project for and with asylum seekers in the asylum centre on Altendorfer Straße today. Once a week, they invite all interested residents of the centre of any age to make music. The artists, who are themselves involved in a wide range of musical styles from classical to experimental, want to sing, drum, search for sounds or play music from their home countries together with the people from the different countries.

An initial meeting and rehearsals are planned for this afternoon from 4 - 5 pm.

The "Klangwege nach Chemnitz" project was initiated by the Municipal Music School and the parish of St Matthew and is funded by the City of Chemnitz's Local Action Plan.
