Soroptimist International founds club in Chemnitz

Charter party on 29 March, 4 p.m., Chemnitzer Hof, Theaterplatz 4

On Saturday, 29 March, from 4 to 6 pm, the Chemnitz club of the Soroptimist International women's network is officially founded. 19 women (called Sorores), together with guests from all over Germany as well as from Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland, will celebrate the official charter ceremony at Chemnitzer Hof, Theaterplatz 4.

The future club members will welcome over 100 guests to Chemnitz, this year's European Capital of Culture. After the weekend, the actual club work will begin. Interesting speakers are invited to monthly meetings, networks are expanded and projects are planned and supported.

Soroptimist International (SI) is one of the world's largest organisations of professional women with a socio-political commitment. It is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with UN consultative status that is committed to the sustainability goals of the UN Agenda 2030.

SI campaigns locally and globally for equal rights and quality education, especially for girls and women, for human rights and peace, international understanding and responsible behaviour at all levels of society.

The movement has around 66,000 members worldwide and is active in 120 countries.
Soroptimist International Germany (SID) currently has almost 7000 members in 225 clubs.
