Soon ready to go: red light monitoring system on Zietenstrasse and Wartburgstrasse, speed monitoring system on Dresdner Strasse
The new red light monitoring system at the junction on Wartburgstraße / Bernsdorfer Straße has also been completed for the start. The device itself is now being used again after it was dismantled at its old location on Neefestraße / Carl-Hamel-Straße in autumn 2012. The city's accident commission had recommended the current location. The red light monitoring system on Wartburg-/Bernsdorfer Straße will be put into operation on Tuesday (18 June). As with the Zieten-/ Augustusburger Straße system on Monday, the exact date from which the system will "flash" here on Tuesday will be announced as soon as the necessary technical work on site has been completed. In any case, it is planned that both systems will start working on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
The new TraffiStar S 330 stationary speed monitoring system on Dresdner Straße, towards the city centre after the Weißer Weg junction, is to be installed as planned in the last week of June - the expected date is Tuesday, 25 June. A final date and handover date for commissioning has not yet been set. The speed measurement system is manufactured by Jenoptik ROBOT GmbH.
With the two new systems in Bernsdorfer and Hilbersdorf, the city of Chemnitz now has a total of 18 stationary monitoring devices in operation in Chemnitz, eight of which are so-called "red light speed cameras" installed at traffic lights and ten of which are used to determine speed.
