Songs and texts to draw hope
City Library: Collage concert on 8 May, 7 pm, TIETZ, Neue Sächsische Galerie
On Monday, 8 May at 7 pm, interested parties are invited to a collage concert with the formation Ent_Rüstet at the Neue Sächsische Galerie in the TIETZ. Under the title "Sehnsucht Frieden" (Longing for Peace), songs and texts from the time of the Thirty Years' War to the present day will be presented to inspire reflection and hope. Own and foreign texts, in German, English, French, Russian and Ukrainian, recited and sung by Luise Albrecht, Ulrike Brummert, Jörg Kersten and Sabrina Tietz. Yidong Qiao accompanies them on the grand piano.
Admission is free of charge.
The longing for peace spans the entire world. And yet wars have been waged throughout human history. They rage in horror and destruction, plunging people into injury, illness, despair, suffering and death. What can be done? Can a war be ended by ignoring it? Do the aggressor and the warring party impose their rules of truth-telling and violence and thus force us to continue to generate violence in defence if we do not want to resign?
A terrible dilemma. Very real and present in the here and now. But wars are not natural disasters, they are man-made. Everything man-made can also be stopped again. That is the reason for confidence.
The collage concert will be followed by an open dialogue and discussion with Freundeskreis C2025 and Formation Ent_Rüstet.
A cooperation between Formation Ent_Rüstet, the Neue Sächsische Galerie, Chemnitz City Library and the German-French Society Chemnitz
Please note:
In the City Library's events for May (PM 247), the concert was incorrectly announced for 7.30 pm. The correct time is 7 pm.
