Solo piano concert with Moritz Ernst

The master pianist Moritz Ernst will give a concert on 29 January 2017 at 11 a.m. in the concert hall of the Municipal Music School with works by Joseph Haydn, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Georg Friedrich Händel and a new piece by Chemnitz composer Thomas Stöß.
Moritz Ernst cultivates an exceptionally broad repertoire, ranging from baroque virginal music to modern music. In the field of modern music, he works with leading contemporary composers (Klaus Huber, Sandeep Bhagwati, Wolfgang Rihm, Michael Plezel, Jimmie LeBlanc, Miklos Maros, Kent Olofsson, Michael Edgerton and others), who often dedicate works to him. In addition to his worldwide activities as a soloist and under conductors such as Gabriel Feltz and Mario Venzago, Moritz Ernst regularly gives masterclasses at venues such as the Stuttgart University of Music, the Royal Academy of Malmö, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the University of Malaya.
The pianist and harpsichordist Moritz Ernst was born in East Westphalia in 1986. He started playing the piano at the age of five and shortly afterwards began taking lessons with teachers at the Detmold University of Music. After graduating from high school, he began his artistic training there. In 2005 he transferred to the Basel University of Music, where he completed his studies with Jean Jaques Dünki in 2008. Already during his studies, he began a busy concert career at home and abroad, which he expanded after additional harpsichord studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis to include performances with harpsichord.
