"Solo flight in the spotlight": Successful Chemnitz music students perform together with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra
Date: Thursday, 27 June, 6 pm, Chemnitz Opera House Tickets for the concert can be purchased now
Music school director Nancy Gibson would like to draw attention to a special concert event and cordially invites you to attend on Thursday, 27 June: the concert "Solo Flight in the Spotlight" begins at 6 pm in the Chemnitz Opera House. Under the direction of Anja Bihlmaier, young soloists from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will perform together with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra.
The soloists are Chemnitz music students Helene Winkler (violoncello), Frauke Tautorus (oboe), Jonas Otte (piano) and Lida Winkler (flute), all of whom won first prize in the 2013 national competition Jugend musiziert.
Music school director Nancy Gibson: "We are very much looking forward to the concert and are of course also very excited about this premiere for our young soloists! In recent years, an intensive collaboration has developed between the Philharmoniker and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School - this includes concert preparations for our various music school ensembles, accompanying particularly talented pupils on their way to competitions and also to university, and of course our fantastic joint orchestral projects. While our Viva la musica! concerts have so far focussed on ensemble playing between Philharmonic musicians and music students, this time individual young musicians will take their "solo flight into the limelight" and, in some cases, perform with an orchestra in front of a large audience for the first time. All of them are first prize winners at the national Jugend musiziert competition."
The concert programme includes works from the Romantic period: Edvard Grieg's "Morgenstimmung" from the Peer Gynt Suite, the 2nd movement from the Piano Concerto in A minor op. 16 and "In der Halle des Bergkönigs" from the Peer Gynt Suite, Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei for cello and orchestra op. 47, Bernhard Molique's Concertino for oboe and orchestra in G minor and François Borne's Fantaisie brillante sur "Carmen" for flute and piano.
Concert tickets at a price of €6, concessions €3 can be purchased in advance from the Ticket Service.
