Soil awareness in Saxony - Why protect the soil?
Invitation to the lecture on 16 March, 6.30 pm in the TIETZ event hall
As part of the special exhibition "The Thin Skin of the Earth - Our Soils" at the Museum of Natural History, the Friends of the Museum invite you to a lecture on 16 March 2016 at 6.30 pm. In the TIETZ event hall, speaker Bernd Siemer will be focussing on soil as a protected resource.
Bernd Siemer is a soil conservationist at the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology. He specialises in protecting the natural functions of soil.
Soil has been and continues to be exposed to a variety of threats and pressures. These include new sealing, excavation and soil erosion. Soil that has grown over thousands of years is lost as a result of these utilisations. The loss cannot be compensated for. Soil is consumed and polluted every day. All for the good of society? The lecture addresses this topic and encourages greater awareness of soil protection.
In his lecture, Bernd Siemer will enrich the factual background with numerous practical examples.
