"Soil Atlas 2015" - facts and figures about fields, land and soil
Invitation: Lecture and discussion at the Environmental Centre
Next Tuesday, 23 February 2016 at 7 pm at the Environmental Centre, Henriettenstraße 5, interested citizens are invited to a lecture and discussion on the topic "Soil Atlas 2015" - facts and figures about fields, land and soil. Admission is free of charge.
Speakers on this evening are: Jens-Eberhardt Jahn, BUND Leipzig and Manfred Hastedt, Chemnitz Environmental Centre
Why is land becoming more and more expensive? How much land is lost every year? How many square kilometres of arable and pasture land do we "import" for our food? Who owns the land? 2015 was the UN Year of Soil, which is why the Soil Atlas presented facts and figures on the importance and condition of land, soils and arable land in Germany, Europe and worldwide.
In keeping with tradition, the Soil Atlas provides an up-to-date insight into the condition of and threats to the soils we live on in numerous graphics and text contributions.
The Soil Atlas was published by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, BUND, IASS and Le Monde diplomatique.
The event is being organised in cooperation with Stiftung Weiterdenken and BUND.
